SERVICE UP TO DATE BY PORSCHE NEW TIRES...One of the best driver’s cars on the road gets even better for 2014, with the turbocharged 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 GT3 joining the naturally aspirated 911 Carrera and Carrera S this year. The Porsche 911 Turbo makes a comeback for 2014 with a new 3.8-liter twin-turbo F-6 that makes 520 hp and 487 lb-ft of torque, and is paired with Porsche seven-speed twin-clutch PDK automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. That’ll get you from 0-60 mph in a claimed 3.2 seconds. That not fast enough for you? Porsche also offers an even faster version of the Turbo — the 2014 911 Turbo S — which has 560 hp and 520 lb-ft of torque on tap. That one will reportedly accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds, which is quicker than it took you to read this sentence. The track-ready 2014 911 GT3
is a bit more pedestrian in comparison, with its naturally aspirated 3.8-liter F-6 making just 468 hp and 324 lb-ft of torque. Paired with the seven-speed PDK, the rear-drive 911 GT3 can reportedly make the sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

You don’t need to spend stupid money to get a stupid-good driver’s car, though. The base 2014 911 Carrera, and Carrera S are both fantastic fun to drive, with the Carrera powered by a 3.4-liter 350 hp and 287 lb-ft F-6, and the Carrera S’ 3.8-liter F-6 making 400 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. Both Carrera S are available with an industry-first seven-speed manual transmission, or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The 911 Carreras are also available as drop-top Cabriolets, and with all-wheel drive (Carrera 4, Carrera 4S).

Though we’ve yet to get our hands on the 2014 911 GT3 or the Turbo twins, the 911 Carrera and Carrera S tend to clean-up in just about every comparison we put them in. The rear-drive Porsche 911 was unanimously voted our Best Driver’s Car in 2012, “”The Carrera S just flows down the road like quicksilver. Elastic thrust, seamless shifts, and effortless transitions. This Porsche moves with a grace no 911 has ever had,” we wrote. The 911 won our Best Driver’s Car completion again the next year, this time in 911 Carrera 4S form.

New for 2014
For 2014 the 911 Carrera and Carrera Cabriolet is joined by the 2014 911 GT3 and 911 Turbo and Turbo S. The new 911 GT3 is a rear-drive track-special powered by a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter F-6 making 470 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. The 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 features extensive weight-saving measures and revised body work and suspension in order to make it the ultimate naturally aspirated 911. The new all-wheel drive 2014 911 Turbo and Turbo S are more about brute force. The 911 Turbo gets a twin-turbo 3.8-liter F-6 making 520 hp and 487 lb-ft of torque, while the Turbo S makes 560 hp and 520 lb-ft of torque, which Porsche says is good for a 2.9 second 0-60 mph run – a claim we can’t wait to test.
